My name is Jill, and I provide down-to-earth person-centred counselling for adults and young people in Farnham, Guildford, and online.
I understand that reaching out for support isn’t easy, especially if you’re doing it for the first time, but my practice is a safe place where we can develop a strong therapeutic relationship and give you the space to speak freely about what’s troubling you. This is your time to explore difficult emotions without the fear of being judged. My counselling is available to adults and young people from age 11 upwards, with me always adapting how I work to suit each individual client.
If you would like to book your first session of counselling in Farnham, Guildford, and online, or to ask any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
Every client is different, so I take care to learn about your specific situation ahead of drawing from a range of techniques to deliver a form of support suited to you. I place strong emphasis on developing a close therapeutic relationship with you, as this is fundamental for making genuine progress in counselling.

I am equipped to work with a wide range of complex issues, along with supporting those who just feel out of sorts and need a place to talk things through. Some of the problems I work with include:
Support for Families Experiencing Long-Term/Terminal Illness
Young People Issues
If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, issues with your body, relationships within your family, or any problem that you would like to talk through in a confidential space, I am here to provide person-centred counselling in Farnham...
I specialise in working with young people aged 11 years upwards. That path from adolescence to early adulthood is full of unique challenges with many young people struggle with anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, low self-esteem...
You are free to get in touch with me and have a free, no obligation 30 minute chat over the phone or online before starting counselling. This is a very down-to-earth, relaxed conversation where you are free to ask any questions and get a sense of how I work as a counsellor in Farnham, Guildford, or online. There is no pressure for you to continue with further sessions if you don’t feel like doing so. I always get back to any enquiries within 48 hours.
I work with many clients online, through Zoom or other video platforms. Some clients prefer working this way because they can access support from the comfort of their own home, without the stress and worry of trying to fit our session in or arranging travel to and from my practice. If a client is anxious about counselling or going to new places, online counselling offers them a solution to this problem.
I work from a private building in Farnham Town Centre and in Guildford Town Centre, giving clients a dedicated quiet space to receive the confidential support they need. There is plenty of parking nearby, along with easy access via train and bus.
All sessions are 50 minutes long and cost £55.
The work we do together is totally confidential. If we are working face to face, there will be no one listening to you – it will be just you and I in the room. If our work is done over the phone or online, I will be working in my counselling room and the same situation will apply. There may be some occasions when I will need to tell someone else about what we have talked about, these are legal requirements or if I am worried about your safety. I will talk about this more as part of our contract of working together.
Counselling is helpful for someone experiencing a complex issue of any kind, whether it’s a relationship, recent bereavement, issues with their body, abuse, depression, or anger. Even if nothing in particular is wrong, but you nonetheless don’t feel good inside yourself, counselling is a place where you can get to the bottom of this feeling. In other words: anyone would benefit from counselling.
Naturally, this varies from person to person and depends on the problem you come to counselling with. In some cases where there is a specific crisis, you might only need one or two sessions, but if you are dealing with a more complex, deeply rooted issues, I recommend at least eight sessions or more, as this gives us a chance to develop a therapeutic relationship and get to what lies behind the problem you are facing.
Generally, I see clients once a week, due to the way that this continuity allows us to foster a good therapeutic relationship. I understand that sometimes it can be difficult to attend weekly sessions due to having a busy life and I offer the flexibility where possible accommodate changes. I can, in cases of crisis intervention, offer two sessions a week if needed
I understand that going to counselling for the first time can feel daunting, and if you feel you would like a person to present in the initial session, that is absolutely fine. In regular sessions I would recommend working on a one-to-one basis.
I believe that it is just as effective as working face to face, in fact some people prefer working over the phone to face to face. This service is for you and therefore it is important you are comfortable with whatever arrangement suits you the best.
Payment can be made via bank transfer, cash, or cheque. For cancellations or rescheduling, please give me a minimum of 48 hours’ notice, otherwise you will be obligated to pay for the session in full.
My practice is a place for young people and adults to receive a form of support that suits their needs. If you are struggling in any way and wish to know more about how counselling can help, feel free to give me a call or email at any time and I’ll be happy to answer any questions about counselling in Farnham, Guildford, and online.
